Abstract

For a 10-kW class Chemical Oxygen-Iodine Laser (COIL), negative and positive branch hybrid resonators are investigated in theory and experiment. Calculations from Fresnel-Kirchhoff theory predict a nearly diffraction limited beam quality in the unstable direction. Theory is verified by measurements with a 2D-camera system in the far-field.
