Abstract

This report details a series of numerical experiments for the design and assessment of a new contour for the KRG regulating valve. Based on 2-D axisymmetric computations, and the 3-D computation of a quarter-section of the tunnel, a contour was chosen which should increase the maximum mass flux through the control valve by 10.3%. The total length and tip radius of the control valve were preserved so as to be compatible with the current support and movement mechanisms of the control valve.
