Abstract

The paper gives an overview of the state of the art in the mapping of tidal currens with SAR along track interferometry techniques. This remote sensing technique can be applied with upcomming new SAR satellites like the TerraSAR-X and will enable a world wide resource assessment for tidal currents which are supposed to be suited for hydropower installations.
