Abstract

The noise prediction capabilities of different numerical methods are studied by applying them to selected low-noise design concepts. Main target is the development of new Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA) methods and their integration into an industrial environment. Three different aeroacoustic problems are considered. First, the reduction of slat noise due to slat cove fillers is studied by comparing them to a clean slat configuration. The second problem concerns the reduction of trailing edge noise by means of trailing edge devices. As a third problem, the reduction of jet noise through nozzle modifications is evaluated. The numerical methods represent different levels of physical modeling complexity and computational effort (LES,DES,CAA with stochastic source terms).
