Kurzfassung
Elevators are mobile systems where scheduling algorithms are used to assign elevator cars to passenger calls. Modern elevator-scheduling algorithms try to find an optimal assignment for an efficient and fast passengertransportation service based on statistics of passenger traffic patterns and fuzzy logic. In this article, we show that the performance of an elevator system can be significantly improved if the elevator control has access to contextual knowledge such that an appropriate scheduling algorithm can be chosen and adjusted to the current and near-future passenger traffic situation and other contextual parameters. Evidence is provided by using a comprehensive simulation of a diverse set of scheduling algorithms and scenarios.
