Abstract

This paper deals with the investigation and performance evaluation of suitable Call Admission Control strategies for connection-like services, such as VoIP and videoconferencing, in second generation DVB-S systems (in a scenario with transparent satellite), where adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) is applied as fade mitigation technique, causing variations in the available capacity in terms of bps. This work has been supported by the ARTES-1 ESA study with title “Resources Management using Adaptive Fade Mitigation Techniques (FMT) in DVB-RCS Multi-Beam Systems”.
