This work has been developed as a part of DLR’s (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) activities in Installed Performance of Antennas on Aerostructures – IPAS project, which is being undertaken by ten European partners. The main purposes of the present research are to study the coupling effects of microstrip antennas conformed on cylindrical structures and the validation of numerical tools. The investigations have been performed using different antenna geometries. Comparison between the predictions using different software will be presented. The advantages and disadvantages of every tool will be discussed. Finally, the numerical results are compared with the measurements performed in the DLR’s Antenna Open Test Range – AMA.
