Abstract

Within the ONERA (France) - DLR (Germany) - cooperation the interaction of N2-molecules of high kinetic energy colliding with a solid hot wall are investigated. The experiments have been carried out at DLR-Goettingen in the vacuum wind tunnel V2G. Test method was the electron beam fluorescence technique which allows to measure the population of rotational levels of the molecules, which is necessary to define the rotation temperatures of the incoming (undisturbed) andthe reflected molecules. The results show the influence of the kinetic energy of the incoming flow, the wall temperature and material, and the Knudsen number.
