Aerodynamic Tool for CFD Validation

Abstract

An "Atlas" of experimental data of integral aerodynamic characteristics for use on personal computers was developed. This system is created for validation of numerical methods and procedures and recording experimental data. The aerodynamic coefficiants fixed in the system have been evaluated from measurements in different testing facilities in Russia and Germany, which are able to simulate certain flow conditions. The system is organized in a hierarchical way and can be used by a graphical user interface, adapted to its hierarchical structure. This is providing an easy access to the data. Operating the system one is enabled:. to view the tables of aerodynamic characteristics obtained by experiments and/or numerical calculations. to view a 3-D image of each model at any viewing angle. to view a colour slide and a sketch with all dimensions of each model. to selcst and filter those sets of data which meet the conditions of search. to edit data in the table. to view the graphs of aerodynamic characteristics. to perform interpolations of experimental data. to insert new results of experiments/numerical calculations. to have a look at conditions of the performed experiments and facilities.
