Abstract

A computer program has been developed to calculate laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectra of nitric oxide. It was especially written for the typical nonequilibrium temperature conditions of supersonic nozzle expansions with respect to the vibrational and rotational degrees of freedom. Generally, any spectra for temperatures up to 2000 K can be calculated. The electronic transitions NO A^2 Sigma, B^2 Pi, D^2 Sigma > &#61 X^2 Pi have been considered. By means of such computational simulations, the most suitable spectra transitions for rotational and vibrational temperature determination of NO gas can be selected. In detail the excitation spectra within the tuning range of the ArF*-excimer laser (192.9 - 193.8 nm) have been investigated.
