Activities and Results from the 1991 Mac-Europe Campaign at Oberpfaffenhofen.

Abstract

On July 12, 1991 an airborne SAR campaign as part of the MAC-EUROPE campaign took place around the DLR area in Oberpfaffenhofen. The SAR sensors used were the NASA/JPL multifrequency multipolarization AIRSAR and the DLR E-SAR operating in C- and X-Band and vertical polarization. Eachaircraft flew five tracks at an altitude of about 4500 m heading exactly north. Most of the ground activities were dedicated to calibration experiments. In the field of SAR applications the image scenes are analysed with respect to classification of landcover types and the determination of the areal distribution of soil moisture.
