Abstract

In this paper, initially, the essential measurement method of the DLRweather radar is described. In the following, some polarimetric signatures from natural and artificial targets (polarimetric DLR weather radar and JPL SAR measurements) are considered. The interpretation of these polarimetric signatures include: qualitative and quantitative meteorological deductions, estimation of attenuation along a satellite path and the polarization dependence of radiometric sky noise temperature in the presence of precipitation.
