Abstract
The Microgravity User Support Centre (MUSC) at the DLR research centre in Cologne supports microgravity experiments in the field of material and life sciences on the carriers TEXUS, Spacelab and EURECA. Currently MUSC is extended to meet the new requirements of Columbus. The concepts and tools for MUSC user support shall help to fulfill the general guidelines for microgravityexperimentation, i.e. fast access, user friendliness, flexibility, precision and optimal in situ measurement capabilities. Key items of MUSC support are: - information on scientific topics and experiment techniques of microgravity utilization; - ground support for technical and scientific experiment preparation; - mission support for experiment and facility operations including telescience;- scientific user support providing access to experience and equipment within the DLR scientific centers MATLAB and BIOLAB. Functions and objectives of MUSC user support programs are illustrated by characteristic examples.
