Abstract

Direct-absorption fluidized bed solar receivers have been investigated during the last decade mainly in France, the U.S. and at DLR in Germany. All receiver tests were carried out with simple fluidized bed devices at the proof-of-concept level or even only on a laboratory scale. The main results of those experiments are reviewed and compared. Based on the results and experiences, a study was carried out at DLR to identify the most important research needs in this field and the most promising concepts for high temperattemperature fluidized bed solar receivers. The results of the study are summarized and an outlook on planned experiments is given.
