Abstract

In 1992 software was developed by Dr. M. Oschwald for the analysis of particle image displacement velocimetry (PIV) negatives. The software was working very satisfactorily but the efficiency and the boundaries of the system were not clear. To investigate this, calibration negatives were produced and various parameters of the system were checked and improved. Also of prime importance in PIV analysis is the suitability of different photographic materials, and the effect of exposure time when producing the negatives. In the following report all of these factors are investigated and discussed.
