Abstract

The arc heated facility LBK is presented with a detailed description of the components of its upgraded test leg L3K. Intrusive and non-intrusive measurement techniques for the determination of pressure, surface temperature, heat flux rate and temperatures and concentration of some gas species are described. The performance of both L2K and L3K facilities with respect to their reservoir conditions and surface parameters of a stagnation point model are defined. The use of both facilities concerning different applications is discussed.
