Abstract

In the hypersonic wind tunnel H2K of the DLR in Cologne tests have been performed with an axisymmetric hyperboloid-flare model at a Mach number M &#61 8.7 and Reynolds numbers Re &#61 35640 and 71280 related to the model length L &#61 59.404 mm. This hyperboloid-flare contour has been defined within the ESA/CNES technical assistance programme as one test case dealing with a large separation area and its dependence on laminar viscous interaction parameter M / Re. Pressure distribution has been measured as well as Stanton number distribution using thin wall technique with individual thermocouples and thick wall technique with infrared thermography.
