Abstract

ROSAT is a scientific spacecraft designed to perform the first all-sky survey with a high-resolution X-ray telescope and to investigate the emission of specific celestial sources. The mission can be broadly divided into three phases: calibration, survey and pointing. This paper describes the mission planning aspects of the project and a software system which has been developed to perform the different functions required of the ROSAT project.
