The "New Mobility Index": a composite quality index of shared mobility services and public transport

Shared micro-mobility services such as e-scooters and bike sharing co-exist with public transport (PT). We develop a composite quality index that combines public transport and shared mobility metrics in a unified framework. This allows assessment of the quality of transport options on a spatially disaggregated level, indicating where shared mobility can complement PT to increase the accessibility and quality of the publicly available transport services in a city. Normalized, weighted metrics ensure it captures diverse mobility aspects. The initial version of the index targets Berlin, Germany, visualized with interactive maps.
