Kurzfassung
In the presentation, the performance of LiDAR and radar sensor systems for obstacle detection in vessel remote operations in harbor environments is evaluated. Distances to surrounding obstacles are measured as a foundation for decision support in the remote operation center. Sea trials results are presented and discussed, including error metrics for the LiDAr and Radar based distances. A key findign is that combining data from both sensor types can significantly improve distance estimation accuracy. The outcome indicates the potential benefit of these sensor systems for collision avoidance with key infrastructure, especially in congested harbors.
