Kurzfassung
Surge is a critical unstable operating condition of axial compressors characterized by flow reversal and strong pressure oscillations. The resulting complex and highly unsteady flow conditions have a significant influence on aerodynamic damping and may lead to flutter during surge operation, potentially causing structural damage. However, the numerical prediction of these coupled effects remains challenging, and only few studies have investigated the flow fields during surge operation and the resulting flutter mechanisms in detail. Therefore, the objective of the present work is to provide a first systematic analysis of these interactions using a simplified compressor configuration as a basis for future investigations.
