Kurzfassung
The thesis investigates different micro gas turbine combustors with the help of Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES). Besides getting deep insights from the combustion process through the analysis of the numerical results, the thesis included the development of a new numerical method, namely the implementation of an extended Flamelet Generated Manifold (FGM) model, which allows to account for flame stretch, heat loss and gain without the need to use species transport models which are more computational resource intensive. Another aspect that is addressed in the thesis is the role of heat transfer between the combustor and fluid.
