Abstract

Railway stations are neuralgic points for the propagation of delays within the railway network. Thus, it is important to consider timetable robustness against delays already in the long-term timetabling stage, by making optimal platforming and routing decisions. At the same time, the station plan must be compatible with a wider network timetable.

This presentation summarizes a new method for this robust, timetable-constrained platforming and routing problem that minimizes expected delay propagation, as developed in the Europe's Rail project Motional.
