Kurzfassung
The developments over the last decade have transformed 3D Lagrangian Particle Tracking from a tool to measure averaged particle properties in small volumes (a few cubic centimeters) to a fully integrated environment, capable of delivering time-series of spatially highly resolved snapshots within scalable volumes up to several cubic meters. The combination of advances both on the software side (with the introduction of the Shake-The-Box method and data assimilation techniques) and the hardware side (LED illumination, Helium-filled soap bubble seeding, better cameras) enabled a rapid expanse in measurement capabilities. Here we outline the most relevant developments in evaluation methods and demonstrate their capabilities by application to experimental data of the flow around a Quadcopter drone.
