Kurzfassung
Reducing deleterious gaseous emission and noise is one of the most important goals being pursued in all sectors of transport. Road transport, shipping and aviation are major contributors to climate change. Although aviation in absolute emission figures lies behind that of road transport, it has been much in focus as it is likely to undergo a significant future growth, it is quite difficult to decarbonize and shows a uniquely high visibility compared to the other sectors. Therefore the Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe (ACARE) has set as its fundamental objective the achievement of fully climate neutral air mobility by 2050, which means that after this date emissions from this sector will no longer contribute to climate change.
