Abstract

This master thesis was conducted in cooperation with the DLR Institute for Aerospace Medicine and the DLR Institute of Material Physics in Space of the German Aerospace Center e.V.. The goal was to create a design concept of a system for Live-Cell Imaging through an epifuorescence microscope under altered gravity conditions on sounding rockets using commercially available components. In addition, a fuid supply and life support system for biological samples was applied. The technology of epifuorescence microscopy for Live-Cell Imaging already exists as commercially available product, but not yet as a tool implemented on a sounding rocket. This platform will contribute to our understanding of cellular adaptation in altered gravity and support future human space exploration endeavors.
