Kurzfassung
The paper deals with the prioritisation of emergency vehicles, which is achieved with the help of a rule-based V2I-based traffic control system was developed, implemented and tested in the test field for the cooperative prioritisation of emergency and public transport vehicles. The aim was to demonstrate an intelligently networked traffic light control system using V2X communication in order to make emergency journeys safer, faster and more efficient. The system structure comprised V2I-capable traffic light systems, roadside units, backend-supported data processing, secure mobile radio connections and emergency vehicles equipped with on-board units. The technical implementation was based on a modular architecture with communication and localisation units in the vehicle, a central backend for data fusion and routing as well as gateways for secure connection of the infrastructure. Standardised V2X message formats such as CAM, DENM, SPAT/MAP, SRM and SSM enabled interoperable communication between vehicles and traffic light systems. The signal request and feedback messages in particular formed the basis for emergency vehicle pre-emption. The technical functionality of the overall system was successfully demonstrated in test operation. Prioritisation worked in all tested directions, allowing emergency vehicles to pass the junction without stopping. The project demonstrates the potential of cooperative, hybrid transport architectures for the gradual integration of V2X technologies into existing infrastructures. The digital urban traffic test field offers a scalable platform for this and opens up prospects for further applications such as green waves for emergency vehicles, digital rescue lanes, prioritisation concepts, support for automated vehicles as well as evacuation and special situations. In this way, the system contributes to improving road safety, reducing response times and the future-oriented digitalisation of urban traffic infrastructure.
