Abstract

To increase the capability of the Bo105 stationed at the DLR facility Brunswick, the subject of this work is to design a multifunctional outboard station in which experimental setups can be installed for the purpose of flight experiments. Within the study, the flight experiments facility and the Bo105 helicopter and its typical work scope are briefly introduced. In preparation of the design, a study of the regulations is carried out in combination with an internal survey to identify institutes with potential experimental setups and their requirements. A design process is completed, in which the outboard station is preliminarily designed, mathematically validated and then developed in detail. During the design phase, the applicable aviation regulations are applied and an analysis of material selection is conducted. The resulting solutions are presented. The typical certification process for a modification of this kind is described, and the work carried out is placed within this context.
