Abstract

This work proposes a control strategy for semi-active suspension based on Model Predictive Control (MPC). The effect of track irregularities on carbody dynamics is considered explicitly. The developed controller is applied to a quarter-car vehicle model with semi-active secondary suspension components. Several simulations are carried out based on scenarios with real measured track data and compared to a reference case with purely passive suspension. The results are evaluated in accordance with EN 12299, showing a promising increase of ride comfort.
