Kurzfassung
An experimental study of a converter-free multi-stack fuel cell system (MFCS) with 10 PEMFC modules in 2s5p (series x parallel) configuration with megawatt power is presented. In full-parallel mode of the MFCS, maximum power output of 925.5 kW at 1635 A is obtained with up to 13.5 % performance loss due to parallel connection compared to theoretical maximum power. A partly-parallel setup yields 966.0 kW at 1719 A, reducing the loss to 9.6 %. Electrical interactions and oscillations are observed across strings under high loads. The results confirm feasibility while highlighting efficiency losses and architectural challenges in high-power converter-free fuel cell systems.
