Abstract

The turbulent boundary layer is one of the main causes of interior noise in civil aircraft, leading to noise exposure of passengers and flight personnel. The pressure fluctuations under the turbulent boundary layer on the aircraft’s surface excite the structure to vibrate, which is radiated inside as sound. Since cabin noise is an important topic, a large-scale cockpit-fuselage model was built in the DLR project INTONATE (Future Aircraft INTeriOr Noise and VibrATion Evaluation) to investigate the surface pressure fluctuations at different positions on the cockpit and front fuselage. The measurement data obtained will later be used to improve the surface pressure prediction capabilities and for comparison with real flight test data.
