Kurzfassung
In this study, the effect on fuel burn efficiency and OEM of the integration of truss-braced wings, liquid-hydrogen propulsion, and open-rotors on a potential next generation SMR aircraft where investigated across a range of aspect ratios and wing loadings. The results of this study show that for the considered technologies, all combinations are feasible under the given requirements. They further show that there is compounding effect between the technologies, opening the possibility of substantial performance gains relative to the baseline design, and further demonstrate that the LH2 configuration benefit more strongly of this compounding effect than the SAF configurations.
