Kurzfassung
This paper presents the results of the numerical simulations of the Transonic Wind Tunnel Göttingen with perforated test section that were performed in the scope of the NATO STO AVT-387. The special feature of this study lies in the fact that all perforation holes of the perforated test section are explicitly simulated. The focus lies on the qualitative investigation of the flow topology in the perforated test section. The effect of different static pressures in the plenum and diffuser, different turbulence models and different CFD codes on the flow field inside the test section and the flow through the perforated walls is evaluated. The simulations show the development of a distinct pattern of waves originating from the perforation holes that can’t be reproduced by using conventional boundary conditions. To validate the findings of the numerical simulations, a comparison with experimental data is also performed.
