Patent Landscape of Power Electronic Technologies for Electric Mobility

Abstract

Using text and data mining functionalities for the analysis, statements for technology development trends and research activities in the automotive sector were identified. Results visualize innovation dynamics, main focus points of reaeacth and development, the technology position of different geographical regions in comparison (with a focus on China, Germany, Japan, South Korea and the US) and also leading companies in the field of automotive power electronics. The paper for example that Japanese institutions were by far leading the technology development in selected areas, although loosing significant shares over time, while China’s patent market and also its technologyl position has gained significant importance since 2013, also compared to Germany.
