Kurzfassung
This paper analyzes the accuracy limit for the velocity estimation with two magnetic field sensors on a train with the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB). The CRLB derived in this paper requires the derivatives of the mean and the variance of the measured magnetic field with respect to time. These derivatives are calculated from analytical expressions which are obtained from a Gaussian Process fitted on the magnetic field data of one sensor. The CRLB is evaluated on data synthesized from magnetic field data from a 5.7 km long segment of railway line for various combinations of velocities and sensor distances.
