Abstract

The transition to renewable energy sources has highlighted the need for efficient and scalable energy storage solutions. With the ability to store electrical as well as thermal energy, Carnot batteries present a promising solution for integrating renewable energy sources and enhancing grid stability. These systems utilise various thermal storage media, including molten salts, solid media, and phase change materials, to store energy at temperatures ranging from 100°C to 1200°C. This presentation provides an overview of key developments in Carnot Battery technology.
