Kurzfassung
While the flight market has recovered from the Covid dip and forecasts predict a constant growth of the aircraft fleets for the upcoming decades the civil aero engine market nonetheless faces significant transformations. To achieve climate neutral aviation until 2050 the next engine generation expected to enter the market in 2035 already has to provide technologies considerably beyond the engines in service today. Additionally, the aero engine business model is currently transformed via flight hour agreements. To secure profitability the engine companies more than ever rely on robust and low-maintenance designs. Within the talk the impact of these transformations on the CFD-based aero design systems will be discussed. Starting from an introduction in current practice, CFD method developments enabling faster multidisciplinary design cycles will be presented exemplary.
