Abstract

We report about noise measurements that were carried out for several weeks at fixed locations within the Graefekiez in Berlin. The aim was the local long-term assessment of noise emissions in urban agglomerations and the evaluation of the corresponding impact on the residents' quality of life. The on-site measurements are compared to time-resolved traffic-noise simulations in order to investigate the impact of traffic-noise emissions in comparison to other sources of urban noise and to investigate the extent to which numerical traffic noise simulations can represent the actual noise pollution.
