Abstract

The COLOSSUS Project aims to develop a system-of-systems (SoS) design framework which will enable the combined optimization of aircraft, fleet, operations and business models. The system-of-systems design framework is implemented on two contrasting use cases to ensure robustness, namely: 1. Sustainable Intermodal Mobility (ADAM) and 2. Aerial Wildfire-Fighting (EVE) The framework employs MBSE tools to integrate and connect the domain-specific tools across the subsystem, constituent system, system of systems and business model levels. The methodologies for setting up an SoS problem are developed, alongside the methodologies and tools to solve them including an AgentBased Simulation Framework, Aircraft Design Workflows, and Life Cycle Assessment and Cost models. An SoS driven design approach is employed for the EVE use case, where a product-pull paradigm is modelled, and conversely a product-push paradigm is modelled for the ADAM use case where the operations and business models of the aircraft are in focus. The project will openly publish the developed methods and tools to foster exploitation in SoS research and industry. This presentation will provide an overview of the COLOSSUS project, the developed methodologies and tools, and the integration into a digital environment
