Abstract
The interaction between one or two longitudinal vortices with an oblique shock wave is investigated numerically using the DLR TAU code. In a first step, a parametric study of the effect of different axial and tangential velocity distributions on the stability of a single vortex is performed. In a second step, a second vortex is introduced and the effect of the relative distance and sense of rotation of the two vortices on their stability characteristics is investigated. Finally, an improved vortex breakdown criterion for vortex-shock interaction is presented.
