Abstract

To ensure correct lift force and pitching moment coefficients due to the spoiler deflection of the Vortex-Lattice-Method (VLM) panels for different spoiler configurations (depth and location), CFD-based correction factors for the aerodynamic elements in front of and behind the spoiler location have been calculated leading to spoiler-proportional deflections of these aerodynamic elements. The performed CFD-simulations and the technique to derive the VLM-correction factors followed by the influence of the different spoiler configurations on the wing cutting-loads and the wing primary mass are shown and discussed in the paper.
