Abstract

The presented investigations look at the vortical flow physics and aerodynamic performance of a generic, sharp leading edge multi-delta wing configuration with control surfaces. The work is part of a DLR project, looking at technologies and design requirements for next generation fighter aircraft. The present paper is dealing with the aerodynamic task to integrate vertical stabilizers and to evaluate the effect of dihedral and rudder deflection angle as well as the influence of the Mach number on the vortical flow, aerodynamic behavior and stability. The work is based on a set of investigations looking at the roll stability at medium to high anglesof attack of the configuration with strakes, wing leading edge slats. The aim is to enhance the knowledge base regarding the integration of control surfaces for the next design stages within the DLR internal project.
