Abstract
These days renewable energy sources are more and more popular in different fields, including in various industries. Renewable energy which can contribute decisively in one key area is an important role in offshore sites where the wind energy is high. This is into renewable energies, and too exciting to ignore as the opportunity is offshore locations have more energy production potential than onshore sites. This potential has not been tapped enough. One Development of renewable energy for offshore production: PtX materials, e.g. green ammonia. This potential has not been sufficiently exploited to date. In this respect, the concept of producing PtX products offshore is very interesting, but a lack of a detailed costing basis for such applications is another reason, why these applications are less represented. It is therefore crucial to determine if offshore wind can successfully be utilized for the production of PtX products, particularly green ammonia, to fully exploit all potential of offshore wind energy. The main purpose of this master’s thesis is to identify the differences in technology performance for the synthesis of green ammonia onshore, compared to robust alternatives developed for an offshore environment. This study may allow for a comparison of the potential cost-effectiveness, efficiency, as well as feasibility of producing green ammonia using offshore renewable energy in the industrial sector. The first objective of this master thesis is to investigate how an Offshore production of Green Ammonia can be synthesized and compared with the synthesis of Green Ammonia on shore to determine if offshore Ammonia synthesis can be a potential lternative. This study will serve as a definitive examination of the costs, efficiency, and feasibility of offshore green ammonia synthesis, offering valuable lessons on the value of industrial sector demand to offshore renewable energy production. In the end, thanks to opportunities arising from the use of offshore wind energy for the production of PtX products the way to green ammonia-we can help drive the transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy system.
