Kurzfassung
Infrastructure-less communication and localization technologies have a large potential for improving the safety and efficiency of the railway system. TrainCAS builts on distributed traffic analysis and conflict detection, direct train-to-train (T2T) communication and pure onboard localization. Sensor fusion of IMU, GNSS and Magnetometer result in reliable, accurate and track-selective absolute localization even in tunnels. Key advantages of TrainCAS are super fast rollout, great value-to-money ratio, migration without interruption at any time, a permanent backup to the existing train control, scalability, easy interfacing and low complexity. The case study and TrainCAS demonstration for the railway line passing Machu Picchu in Peru is presented in this lecture within the Seminar on Railway Systems at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
