Abstract

The solar wind has a persistent impact on the Earth's Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere system. Because of the complex electrodynamic coupling processes in this system, it is difficult to characterize and predict the ionospheric response to the solar wind variability. This work presents a description of the diverse character of the ionosphere response to solar wind variability at the ionosonde station Juliusruh in Germany depending on local time, season and solar activity.
