Abstract
The accurate measurement of two-dimensional surface temperature distributions with a high spatial and temporal resolution is significant in modern aerodynamic and hydrodynamic applications. Temperature-Sensitive Paints (TSP) offer a non-intrusive method for a full-field determination, based on the thermal quenching mechanism of luminescence. Samarium emission has a much shorter luminescence lifetime than Eu-complexes, which are often applied in TSPs and are therefore promising candidates for fast responding TSPs required for unsteady flow measurements.
