Abstract

In 1992 the HELINOISE test was performed in the German/Dutch wind tunnel. One blade of the Bo105 model rotor was equipped with 124 absolute pressure transducers, allowing to compute the spanwise distribution of rotor blade loading during the revolution. From a high speed case with close blade/tip vortex interaction (BVI) the aerodynamic loading (lift and moment) are correlated to the events of vortex passage over the airfoil surface. Counterrotating double vortex systems are observed on the advancing side of the rotor that result from download at the blade tip in the second quadrant of the rotor disk.
