Abstract

This talk outlines the science capabilities of the Bose-Einstein Condensate and Cold Atom Laboratory (BECCAL). It briefly discusses the principle of atom interferometry, relevant heritage activities, and the setup of the BECCAL payload, along with the motivation of operating a facility for atom optics and interferometry in space. The talk presents its features for fundamental physics research and the development of concept for future space-borne quantum sensors.
