Abstract

This work delves into dynamic responses within diverse gear systems. Through an extensive literature review, it emphasizes the importance of mesh stiffness calculation methodologies in gear dynamics. The primary objective is to analyze the alignment between numerical calculations and analytical predictions, providing insights into any disparities. Furthermore, this research extends its scope to assess the dynamic loads experienced by gear components during operation. Mesh stiffness data plays a pivotal role in this context, enabling the accurate prediction of these loads. The mesh stiffness and force calculations are carried out for both healthy gears and gears with a simulated crack introduced at the base of a tooth. In addition to these analytical and numerical investigations, this thesis proposes the development of a practical test rig for experimental validation of mesh stiffness calculations. This test rig serves as a bridge between theoretical findings and actual results, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of gear system behavior. This work underscores the paramount importance of accurate mesh stiffness calculations, which have implications for the optimization of gear systems.
