Abstract

Based on results obtained as part of the DLR project Fluid-21, developments in aircraft noise at German airports up to the year 2050 were presented. Aircraft movements will increase, but the continuous noise levels around the vicinity of airports will remain stable. Furthermore, active noise abatement measures at the source were presented and assessed in terms of their relevance. The talk concluded that the best noise protection lies in the development of quieter aircraft.
